R U OK? Day

Yesterday -- September 12th -- Goulburn Options participants and staff wore yellow for R U OK? Day.


R U OK? Day is an annual event designed to bring attention to and reduce the stigma around mental health, and to assist us all in beginning those oftentimes difficult conversations with our families, friends and loved ones.


The official R U OK? website (www.ruok.org.au) has some amazing resources including tips and tricks for talking to the important people in your life about how they're feeling, and a conversation guide to get you started. Our participants spent R U OK? Day completing mindful activities and checking in with their peers and friends. (Check out the Key Word Sign group's fantastic flower arrangement project in the image above -- the perfect activity for a sunny day!) R U OK? Day teaches us all of the four key steps for staying connected:

  1. Ask R U OK?

  2. Listen

  3. Encourage Action

  4. Check In


Any day is a good day to be kind to others, but R U OK? Day is definitely a good reminder!
