Spring has sprung, and GO is feeling the renewed energy that comes around at this time of the year. September was a month well and truly filled with events, activities and outings. Let's start from the beginning...

Annie

To kick off September, the GO Literacy Group ventured down to Melbourne to watch Annie the Musical at the Princess Theatre. After completing all the research, planning and preparation as part of their group, building everyone's capacity and confidence to go on such an adventure, the trip was extra satisfying. And the reviews are in! We hear Annie is a 10 out of 10.

The Great Chase

The Great Chase, hosted by Greyhound Racing Victoria, is always a highlight for Goulburn Options -- "a much-loved event that brings together people with intellectual and physical disabilities for a day of excitement, entertainment and community connection." Our team jumped at the chance to attend again this year, for a fun filled day at the races, a lovely lunch and a chance to connect with other groups across the Shepparton and Goulburn Valley Region.

Sports, Sports, Sports!

GO Group Programs spent a large part of September preparing for the Mooroopna All-Abilities Sports Carnival. Unfortunately, the event had to be postponed, but that didn't stop GO from making the most of our training! We got together for a carnival of our very own, right here the Seymour Leisure Centre. We played so many sports through the day, all designed for ultimate inclusion and accessibility, and everybody had the same thing to say: nobody could wipe the smile off their face all day!

R U OK? Day

In September, we once again recognised R U OK? Day -- a day to check in with friends and loved ones and destigmatise discussions about mental health. Everybody wore yellow to GO and came together to complete self-care and relationship-building activities. A fantastic time had by all!

Calendars for Sale!

It's that time of the year again, the GO Art 2026 Calendars are stocked and ready for purchase! Every year our artists gather their favourite artworks from the year and make this calendar as a display of their amazing talents, and to raise money for their program. Art supplies can be expensive, especially when the GO Art Group are so productive, so this, one of our biggest fundraisers for the program each year, is a fantastic way to make sure the artworks keep on coming. If you'd like to purchase a calender (or two!) for yourself, stop into GO at 16-18 Station Street, any weekday between 9am and 3pm. Or call us! 5792 3192 to arrange a purchase! $25 each!

20x20x20 Art Show

And finally, amongst all our usual programming, events and fun the 20x20x20 Art Show took place!! Together with Seymour and District U3A in celebration of their 20th Anniversary, we put together a brand-new exhibition of 20x20cm artworks. We hosted our opening night of the exhibition on Friday 19th September, and had upwards of 80 people in attendance! GO participants sold many artworks, our raffle sold nearly 600 tickets, and a fantastic evening was had by all! The night and the following exhibition were a prime example of just what community organisations can achieve when they connect and collaborate.
