Month in Review: September

Oct 1
2 min read

Spring has certainly sprung at GO, and our participants have been making the absolute most of it. From sporting days, to some serious celebrations of achievement, we've been non-stop! We've got so much to share from the month just gone, but before we get into it we'd like to remind everyone that one of our biggest events of the year is right around the corner! All GO supporters and community members are warmly invited to this year's Annual General Meeting! This year is extra exciting as we plan to unveil our 2027-2030 Strategic Plan and get ready for another awesome presentation from our Participant Voice Committee!

All-Abilities Sports Day

One of GO's most favourite yearly events, we once again bussed up to Shepparton to participate in Valley Sport's All-Abilities Sports Day. This year, it was all about netball. We had so much fun (despite the blisteringly cold winds) matched up against other local disability support services. A great time was had by all if the smiles were anything to go by!

Footy Colours Day

As Freo and Brisbane geared up to clash at the MCG, GO participants got in the spirit a bit closer to home and wore our Footy Colours down to Kings Park for a sunny afternoon of footy themed fun.

Anne Pennington Award

Amongst hundreds of students from the Centre for Continuing Education, GO participants Hannah and Andrew were this month indiviudally nominated for The Centre's Anne Pennington Award. This award recognises outstanding achievement, enjoyment and participation in education. As students of the Centre's Ability Me Program, both Andrew and Hannah have shown exceptional skills growth and engagement in their studies, and were nominated by their trainers Jo and Bard. Hannah and Andrew travelled with staff and their families to Wangaratta at the end of September to recieve their awards. We couldn't be prouder.

R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day is another favourite here at GO. We're always looking for new ways to support our friends, families and ourselves by checking in and speaking up! We also don't mind a chance to dress up!!
